Katarina Tomasic

Front Desk Assistant & Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) Teacher

Katarina Tomasic began her dance training at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts at the age of three under the direction of Lynette Mason Gregg.  She trained with many prestigious instructors including Nelson Madrigal, Lorna Feijóo, Luis Fuente and Olga Kostritsky. She also received additional training with Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and American Ballet Theatre, under the instruction of Darla Hoover, Christine Spizzo and Robert Steele among others.

Katarina joined the Bay Area Houston Ballet & Theatre as a company member in 2012 where she entered as an apprentice and progressively moved up to principal dancer.  As a dancer with BAHBT, she performed important roles in classical ballets such as The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Coppelia, Swan Lake, Dracula, Edward Scissorhands as well as several of their contemporary and musical theater productions.  Katarina was awarded the Ayman Aaron Harper Scholarship in 2013, and subsequently traveled with BAHBT’s scholarship group to study dance in New York City. Ms. Tomasic was also elected by her peers to receive BAHBT’s Grand Esprit de Corps award in 2015.  Katarina’s passion for teaching young children was sparked when she began assisting at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 2013. Since then, she has gotten the opportunity to teach several dance genres to different age groups while in training and performing.

In 2016, Katarina joined Feijóo Ballet School as a student and continued to dance with BAHBT until 2017.  Since then, she has been in charge of the studio's  Front Desk, assists and teaches our younger dancers and became the Madrigals Manager in 2017.  As Madrigals Manager, she seeks to offer our emerging dancers opportunities to perform in our community while developing their artistic gifts and talents.

Katarina is now a full time student at the University of Houston where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition and Foods. On campus, she is involved with the Delta Omega Chi Pre-Health organization where she is the volunteer director. She has started an outreach program called “Little DOC Talks” to help improve health literacy and inspire children to love learning in the under-serving Houston area. In her free time, she is a volunteer at Texas Children’s Hospital in the “Arts in Medicine” program where she gets to combine her passion for teaching by helping improve children's lives through art.

This past May, Katarina was trained and is certified to teach all three levels Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT).
