Estheysis Menendez
Ballet Teacher
Estheysis Menendez began her ballet training in 1999 at the "Luis Casas Romero Vocational Arts School " and continued her training in the "Vicentina de la Torre Academy.” In 2007, Estheysis was invited to join the National Ballet School of Cuba, under the guidance of Ramona de Saá and other outstanding professors. She has received several important distinctions in competitive events, among them: 1st Place in the category Variations in 2005 and 1st Place in the category Pas de Deux in 2008 at the International Encounters of Academies for the Teaching of Ballet Competitions, Havana, Cuba. In 2008, she joined the National Ballet of Cuba and was promoted to First Soloist in 2012. Shortly thereafter, in 2014, she was invited to work under Alicia Alonso's artistic-technical direction, during which time, she performed a repertoire of classical and contemporary works and danced the principal roles in traditional collections such as Swan Lake, Giselle, Coppélia, The Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker. In 2015, Estheysis was promoted to Principal Dancer of the National Ballet of Cuba where she was awarded the coveted Female Interpretation Prize 17 and the National Choreographic Concourse from the Cuban National Writer and Artists Union. Estheysis is delighted to join Bay Area Houston Ballet & Theatre this year as an Artist in Residence and is excited to join Feijoó Ballet School as Classical Ballet teacher.
