Laura Massague
Character Teacher
Laura Massague began dancing at the age of 9, in the Elementary School of Ballet, in Havana Cuba. She went on to study with the National School of Ballet, where she graduated with honors and with the Golden Title of dancer/professor. In 2005, at the age of 18, Laura became a member of Alicia Alonso’s National Ballet of Cuba for nearly a decade. In 2014, she received a Bachelors of Fine Arts from the Cuban Institute of Superior Arts (ISA).
Throughout this time, she danced in countless ballets such as Swan Lake, Don Quixote, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Coppélia, Paquita, Napoli, Sylphides, and many other classics. She participated in international tours to Europe, Africa, Egypt, Australia and throughout the Americas. During her time with the National Ballet, she rose through the ranks of the corps de ballet and soloist, created her own ballet choreography, and took classes and rehearsals from famous ballet dancers and professors such as Alicia Alonso, Fernando Alonso, Loipa Araujo, Aurora Bosch, Svetlana Ballester, Azary Plissetsky, Lazaro Carreño, and others.
In October of 2014, she joined Bay Area Houston Ballet & Theatre (BAHBT) as a Guest Artist and has performed principal roles in The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Don Quixote Pas de deux, Snow White and Cinderella. Ms. Massague is currently an Artist in Residence at BAHBT.
