Lauren Frere

Classical Ballet

Lauren Frere, a native of Houston, Texas and graduate of Clear Lake High School, began her ballet studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts under the direction of Lynette Mason Gregg, Miroslav Bart, Milena Leben, and Amber Thornton.

Lauren’s professional credits include Tulsa Ballet Theater, The Sarasota Ballet, Columbia Classical Ballet, and First State Ballet Theatre. Her repertoire includes all the classical ballets as well as principal roles in La Bayadere, Giselle, Coppelia, Don Quixote, Le Corsaire, The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, and most notably Swan Lake. Columbia Classical Ballet opened its 2011-2012 season with Swan Lake, and it was Lauren’s first opportunity to dance the principal role of Odette/Odile. The State, South Carolina's largest newspaper, recognized her performance as one of the "2011 Moments in Art", proclaiming “It was Lauren Frere, who danced the roles of Princess Odette and Odile, who made the performance spectacular. Her dancing was precise, lyrical and a joy to watch.” Lauren was promoted to Principal Dancer in 2010.

In 2013 Lauren joined First State Ballet, where her roles included Lilac Fairy (The Sleeping Beauty), Mercedes (Don Quixote), Myrtha (Giselle), Marie (The Nutcracker), Odile (Swan Lake), and multiple mixed repertoire performances including work with Viktor Plotnikov.

Lauren now calls Clear Lake home, and she is enjoying her new role as a Mom to daughter Olivia.
