Meaghan Abel

Front Desk Assistant & Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) Teacher

Meaghan Abel began to dance at the age of three at the Ballet Academy of Corpus Christi by Nancy Sulik and performed with Corpus Christi Concert Ballet in their productions of The Nutcracker, Alice in Wonderland, and Esmerelda.  At the age of 9, her family moved to the Houston/Clear Lake area where she began to train at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts under the direction of Lynette Mason Gregg. During that time, she also trained under the direction of world renown dancers such as Luis Fuente, Nelson Madrigal, Lorna Feijoo, Olga Kostritzki, Joel Toledo, among others. In 2016, she enrolled at Feijoo Ballet School and trained under the close direction of Prima Ballerinas Lorna and Lorena Feijóo.

Meaghan joined the Bay Area Houston Ballet and Theatre in 2012 as a company member and performed with them for six seasons.  As a company member, she performed various soloist and principal roles in renown ballets such as Coppelia. Swan Lake, Cinderella, Edward Scissorhands, Dracula, Sleeping Beauty and The Nurcracker as well as several roles in contemporary and musical theater productions such as Hairspray, Grease and Bye Bye Birdie. Meaghan was BAHBT’s Makenzie Stocker 2015-2016 scholarship recipient, a BAHBT SEED 2017-2018 scholarship winner, and BAHBT’s Esprit de Corps recipient for 2015-2016.

She attended several summer intensives including American Ballet Theater under Franco De Vita, Julie Kent and Melissa Bowman, Nashville Ballet under the direction of Paul Vasterling, and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre under Terrence Orr.  Meaghan was considered for Nashville Ballet’s second company in 2017 and was in the Graduate Program at Pittsburgh Ballet Theater for the 2018-2019 season under the direction of Majorie Grundvig, Dennis Marshall, and Janet Popeleski. 

Meaghan is now a full-time student at Houston Community College in their Physical Therapist Assistant program.  She will complete the program in May of 2021 with an Associate of Applied Sciences.  She is also a certified Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) teacher for all three levels.

Meaghan joined Feijòo Ballet School in the Spring of 2019 as a substitute teacher and front desk assistant.  She is excited to join Feijóo Ballet as a teacher in the Children's Classical Ballet Program and as an instructor of Progressing Ballet Technique.
