Melanie Leyva

Physical Conditioning Teacher

Melanie Leyva is originally from Cuba where she trained and danced at the Cuban National Ballet School in La Habana.  She graduated in 2018 as a professional dancer and ballet teacher at the Fernando Alonso National Ballet School.

She trained under Ramona de Saa, Fernando Alonso, Aurora Bosch and Loipa Araujo.  She received additional training from incredible teachers such as Julio Boca, Katherine Zuasnabar, Julio Arozarena, Joel Carreno and Jose Manuel Carreno.

She has performed roles in classic such as Giselle, Swan Lake, Le Corsaire, Carmen, Don Quixote, Cinderella, The Nutcracker, Le Sulphide, Paquita and Sleeping Beauty.

Melanie joined the National Ballet of Cuba in 2018 and was a part of the company until February 2024.  While at the National Ballet of Cuba, she danced major roles such as Clara in The Nutcracker, Coppelia, Swan Lake, Carmen, Seventh Symphony, Flower Festival of Genzano among many others.

Melanie has performed internationally with the National Ballet of Cuba in the United Arab Emirates, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica and Spain.

She is excited to join Feijoo Ballet School this season as the Physical Conditioning teacher.
